Sunday, July 16th, 2006If you use Google Calendar and the Linux Evolution PIM program then it can be useful to have your Google Calendar syncronised locally with Evolution. Doing this is simple, as Google helpfully provide remote access via ICAL.
Go to http://www.google.com/calendar/
Login if required
Click the ‘Settings’ link in the top right
Click the ‘Calendars’ tab

Microsoft need to fix their search engine
Wednesday, June 7th, 2006I was looking through my logs, to see how many random visitors I’d had recently, and how they got to my site and frankly, I think MSN Search is broken.
For example, take a look at these results for the keywords “Free Windows Defender”:
Look! I’m at the top! What the heck?
Ok, so this confuses me somewhat. [...]
Internet Explorer Users
Saturday, March 25th, 2006Firstly, let me get one thing settled. You are using the wrong web browser. You should be using the correct web browser (Mozilla Firefox).
Interesting thing happened recently. Since Microsoft’s Internet Explorer does not comply to website rendering standards it causes a malformation of the layout on my page. This has occurred ever since I added [...]
Google Blacklists BMW
Tuesday, February 7th, 2006The website of the German car manufacturer, BMW, has been ‘blacklisted’ by Google. This was done due to BMW’s German website influencing search results to ensure top ranking when users entered a search for ‘used car’.
“Google has now reduced BMW’s page rank to zero, ensuring the company no longer appears at the top.”
“BMW admitted using [...]
Goobuntu - Google’s Operating System
Thursday, February 2nd, 2006Goobuntu - The free, open-source operating system from Google.
“When Goobuntu reaches the streets of the U.S and the rest of the planet, Microsoft would be in big problem.
Up until now, the Desktop World has been dominated by Microsoft Operating System and all its family of applications.
Linux has not been able to get into that world, [...]
Capital Letters Beat Google’s Security - Is Treason Afoot?
Thursday, February 2nd, 2006The recent censorship security Google have placed on their Chinese website was circumvented recently. THIS WAS DONE SIMPLY, JUST BY SEARCHING LIKE THIS.
“Capital letters meant liberation from Google’s censorship software for a few hours. Now it’s onto some other way around Google’s wall in China.”
eWeek.com
Yes - capital letters. Nothing more difficult. Google responded within a [...]
Google gives in to China
Friday, January 27th, 2006China’s technological side is well known for its government’s censorship of the Internet. This is sometimes referred to as The Great Firewall Of China.
It seems, unfortunately, that Google have given in to pressure from the Chinese government to censor their search results. Google’s Chinese site now shows a variety of differing results, despite Google prior [...]
The EVE Online Video
Wednesday, January 18th, 2006In EVE Online, me and a group of my university got bored and started stealing from MC Cubed Inc. [-MC3-] . Hilariously, I don’t think they quite understand the new stealing rules that are now present in the game (after the ‘Red Moon Rising’ expansion), so they illegally attacked us.
They lost two large ships in [...]
Firefox versus Internet Explorer
Wednesday, December 7th, 2005Yes. It’s the geeky argument of Mozilla Firefox versus Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Firefox wins in my opinion (primarily due to me being awesome), and also wins in most other peoples’ opinions who have tried it, according to the ‘Internet Explorer vs. Firefox‘ video clip on Rocketboom.com.
Other reasons beside my awesomeness include better security than Internet Explorer [...]
If computer companies were airlines
Friday, September 16th, 2005AOL-air
Leaflets for AOL-air would be pushed through you door every few months. You’d be welcoming into AOL-air ‘membership’ which would seem fascinatingly simple just because you’ve never flown before. However, when on the aeroplane you would find it to be much slower than it’s competitors for the price you pay. At least 5 out of [...]
