Garry’s Mod - Tip to fix graphical lag
By DivineOmega | January 21, 2007
If you’ve had trouble with processor, graphics or even random bugs whilst playing Garry’s Mod, it may be what you’ve picked up that has make the game go a bit wacky. Whenever you connect to a customized server online, or even a friend’s game on a LAN, you can pick up various objects, weapons etc. that were made by other people. Sometimes these can have bugs in them or cause problems to develop when mixed with other ones.
If you think you have a bad modification slowing down you copy of Garry’s Mod, go find the following folder and delete the hell out of it. Note that this will also remove all your settings and screenshots, as well as any mods or add-ons.
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your_steam_username\garrysmod
Remember to replace ‘your_steam_username’ in the path above with, you guessed it, your Steam username.
When you have deleted this folder Steam should extract a new copy of Garry’s Mod next time you attempt to start it, rid of all evil bug providing modifications your system might have downloaded.
